Senior Tour Consultant

About the Opportunity

Based at the regional office in Nairobi, the role of the Senior Tour Consultant is to manage correspondence  from Agents and direct Clients in a timely manner and also profitably manage the team of Tour Consultants reporting to the role deliver on their targets demonstrated by a maximized on Company turnover. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for management and processing of all relevant incoming requests, preparing attractive detailed, accurate and timely proposals to our clients according to set standards.
  • Updating of bookings on Tourplan System with accurate status on vouchers, flight details, rooming list and transfer/ transport requirements.
  • The Senior Tour Consultant is further responsible for on the job training in the consulting area, assisting with the smooth running of the department and ensuring the completion of tour requests according to set standards.
  • Designing and redesigning itineraries and costing/re-costing tour files covering items of tourist interest in the region.
  • Brief Customer Relations Representatives/ Tour Guides
  • Design final safari itineraries for clients and driver-guides
  • Invoice safaris  after all services have been confirmed by the suppliers in collaboration with accounts department
  • Booking all transfers with Transport Department immediately on confirmation of bookings and following up. 
  • Ensuring all service vouchers are received and filled correctly in order of services being provided.
  • With the help of Customer Service Department collect payments against the invoices for extra services provided to clients and submitting to accounts department within 24 hours i.e. services provided outside the contract agreement.
  • Accountable for delivery of excellent service delivery and achievement of prescribed turnaround time on all requests and documents dispatched.
  • Conduct a root cause analysis of challenges encountered in safaris consultatively with Team Leaders.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by Management.

Minimum requirements

  • Relevant degree level education preferably in  Tour Operations and Tourism Management
  • Strong Communication skills – verbal and written
  • Demonstrated excellent customer Service and Inter-personal skills across all levels
  • Attention to details and with an Analytical mind
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Stress Management , conflict handling and problem solving skills
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar supervisory role.
  • ICT Proficient
  • Proficient in English and any other Foreign language will be an advantage
