Senior Accountant

The Anti- Female Genital Mutilation Board is a state corporation under the Ministry of Gender, Culture, The Arts and Heritage responsible for implementing the prohibition of Female Mutilation Genital Mutilation Act, 2011. The Board invites applications from qualified persons for the following vacant position(s):

Senior Accountant (AFGM 6)- Vacancy No. AFGM/10/2023 (1post)- Permanent and Pensionable

a. Duties and Responsibilities

i. Assisting in the formulation of accounting policies, regulations and procedures;
ii. Preparing financial statements;
iii. Preparing budget and other financial estimates;
iv. Preparing managements reports;
v. Assisting in preparation of final accounts;
vi. Preparing cash flow forecasts;
vii. Gathering, analyzing and reporting on information on income and expenditure to support decision making and management planning;
viii. Recording financial transactions (income and expenditure) in accordance with the organizational and tax authority requirements;
ix. Management of receipts and payments;
 x. Preparing and dispatching customer statements and ensuring safe custody of records and assets;
 xi. Payment voucher examinations;
xii. Identifying and correcting or referring any accounting errors or discrepancies;
xiii. Drafting trial balances and financial statements;
xiv. Monthly reconciliation of salary, bank and cashbook; and
xv. Preparing quarterly reports.

b. Requirements for Appointment

i. Served in the grade of Accountant or a comparable position in a reputable organization for a minimum period of four (4) years;
 ii. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting Option) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
iii. Certified Public Accountants CPA (K) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA);
iv. Be a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or any other relevant professional body;
 v. Proficiency in computer applications skills; and
vi. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

c. Essential skills and Competencies
 i. Analytical skills.
ii. Accuracy skills.
iii. Interpersonal skills.
iv. Record management skills.
