Partnership and Communication Officer

BURN designs, manufactures, and distributes aspirational fuel-efficient cooking products that save lives and forests in the developing world.BURN has revolutionized the global cookstove sector by proving the business case for selling a high quality, locally manufactured and unsubsidized cookstoves.Since 2013, BURN has sold 200,000+ high quality, locally manufactured and unsubsidized jikokoas â„¢ stoves in East Africa. These stoves have helped 1,000,000+ beneficiaries save $39 million in fuel expenditures and 626,221 tons of wood while reducing indoor air pollution by 65%. BURN currently sells ~10,000 stoves per month and intend to double sales by the end of 2017.

About the Role

BURN is looking for a dynamic and strategic Partnership and Communication Officer to join our Communications team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Communications and collaborate closely with the Director of Partnerships. This role will be instrumental in fostering and managing key partnerships while also playing a crucial role in shaping and executing communication strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Partnership Development:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Partnerships to develop partnership strategies and initiatives.
  • Identify and engage potential partners aligned with BURN's mission and goals.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with existing and new partners.
  • Optimizes partnerships to strengthen the influence and reach.

Communication Strategy:

  • Work closely with the Head of Communications to develop and implement communication plans.
  • Develop and execute strategies for engagement and development of communication products to enhance BURN's visibility and influence with existing and prospective partners.
  • Craft compelling narratives and content for various channels, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Supports planning and coordination of joint communication activities and events with communication agencies and communication/marketing teams of BURN's corporate partners.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with targeted media to drive earned media coverage for BURN.
  • Monitor and analyse communication effectiveness, making recommendations for continuous improvement.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Serve as a liaison between the Communications and Partnerships teams, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Coordinate joint initiatives and projects that involve both partnerships and communication aspects.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in partnership communication, corporate communications, public relations, or related roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of best practices in corporate communication, crisis management, and media relations.
  • Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content that resonates with external audiences.
  • Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team
  • Understand the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction.
